SAS 12GBPS Technology Explained
SAS 12Gbps is a high-speed storage interface technology that is used in the Dell 400-AUJH 960GB SAS 12Gbps Compellent Enterprise Plus Read Intensive Solid State Drive. Here's a brief explanation of SAS 12Gbps technology:
- Overview of SAS Technology: SAS stands for Serial Attached SCSI, which is a type of interface technology that is used to connect storage devices, such as hard drives and SSDs, to servers and other computing systems. SAS is similar to SATA (Serial ATA), which is another common storage interface technology, but SAS is designed for high-performance, enterprise-level applications.
- Benefits of SAS 12Gbps: SAS 12Gbps is the latest version of SAS technology, and it offers several key benefits over earlier versions, as well as other storage interface technologies. One of the main benefits of SAS 12Gbps is its high data transfer rate, which allows for faster data access and transfer. With a maximum transfer rate of 12Gbps, SAS 12Gbps is twice as fast as the previous version, SAS 6Gbps. This makes it an ideal choice for applications that require high performance and low latency, such as data analytics, virtualization, and high-performance computing.
- Compatibility with Earlier Versions: While SAS 12Gbps is the latest version of SAS technology, it is also backward-compatible with earlier versions of SAS and SATA. This means that SAS 12Gbps devices can be connected to SAS 6Gbps or SATA 6Gbps interfaces, and vice versa. However, to take full advantage of the speed and performance benefits of SAS 12Gbps, it is recommended to use it with compatible SAS 12Gbps hardware.
- Use Cases for SAS 12Gbps: SAS 12Gbps technology is commonly used in enterprise-level applications that require high performance and reliability, such as data centers, cloud computing, and financial services. It is also well-suited for applications that require high data transfer rates and low latency, such as video editing, high-performance computing, and virtualization.
Comparison with Other Dell SSD Models
The Dell 400-AUJH 960GB SAS 12Gbps Compellent Enterprise Plus Read Intensive SSD can be compared to other Dell SSD models in terms of its specifications, performance, endurance, and price. Here are some potential models to compare:
- Dell 400-ASFB 1.6TB SAS 12Gbps Mixed-Use SSD: This SSD has a higher capacity than the Dell 400-AUJH, at 1.6TB, but is classified as mixed-use rather than read-intensive. It has a similar data transfer rate of 12Gbps, and is also designed for enterprise-level applications. The Dell 400-AUJH has a lower endurance rating, but is typically less expensive than the Dell 400-ASFB.
- Dell 400-BDZG 480GB SATA 6Gbps Read Intensive SSD: This SSD has a lower capacity than the Dell 400-AUJH, at 480GB, and uses SATA 6Gbps rather than SAS 12Gbps. It is also classified as read-intensive, and is designed for enterprise-level applications. The Dell 400-AUJH has a higher capacity and faster data transfer rate, but is typically more expensive than the Dell 400-BDZG.
- Dell 400-AEON 800GB SAS 12Gbps Write Intensive SSD: This SSD has a similar capacity to the Dell 400-AUJH, at 800GB, but is classified as write-intensive rather than read-intensive. It has a similar data transfer rate of 12Gbps, and is also designed for enterprise-level applications. The Dell 400-AUJH has a higher endurance rating and is typically less expensive than the Dell 400-AEON.
The Dell 400-AUJH 960GB SAS 12Gbps Compellent Enterprise Plus Read Intensive SSD offers a balance of high capacity, fast data transfer rates, and moderate endurance, making it suitable for read-intensive enterprise-level applications. Its price is also competitive compared to other Dell SSD models with similar specifications. However, depending on the specific needs of the user, other Dell SSD models with different capacities, technologies, and endurance ratings may be a better fit.
Pricing and Availability of the Dell 400-AUJH SSD
The pricing and availability of the Dell 400-AUJH 960GB SAS 12Gbps Compellent Enterprise Plus Read Intensive SSD can vary depending on the vendor and location. However, here's some general information that may be helpful:
- Pricing: As of my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, the Dell 400-AUJH 960GB SAS 12Gbps SSD was priced around $900 - $1000 USD. However, pricing may vary depending on the vendor and any current promotions or discounts. It's always a good idea to compare prices from multiple vendors to find the best deal.
- Availability: The Dell 400-AUJH SSD is an enterprise-level SSD that is typically sold through authorized Dell resellers or directly from Dell. It may not be as widely available as consumer-level SSDs, but it can often be found through online retailers and other specialty computer hardware stores. However, availability may vary depending on the location and demand.
- Warranty: It's important to note that the Dell 400-AUJH SSD comes with a limited warranty from Dell, which may vary depending on the region and vendor. The warranty period typically covers defects in materials and workmanship, but may not cover damage caused by misuse or other external factors. It's important to review the warranty details carefully before purchasing the SSD.

About Refurbished Products
Users who prefer faster transfer rates and improved system response would find SAS 12GBPS SSDs handy. These drives are suitable for use in enterprise servers and storage arrays. They can process large workloads that require high input/output and low latency. SAS 12GBPS SSDs are one of the most improved storage devices for server virtualization, high-end computing, and data analytics.
These drives support dual-port operation with features that improve reliability. These features include advanced error correction, high signal quality, data integrity technology, and several others. They use higher signal voltages with end-to-end integrity, offering better data speed than SATA drives, and supporting multiple data paths.
Ultra-Fast & Consistent Performance
As SSDs continue to expand in the memory market, the SAS solid-state drives seek to leverage the 12GBPs architecture to offer high-level performance. The design of these drives allows them to carry out several operations effectively. Server virtualization, tiering, high-performance computing, and data analytics have never been faster.
These drives have steady performance specs to allow them to carry out sequential activities. Users will find SAS SSDs with form factors within the range of 1.8" and 3.5", making them a compact option. The SAS 12GBPS comes with a multi-path connection which provides room for fail-over redundancy. With this, users can be sure that there will be no single point of failure.
Furthermore, they feature advanced SAS error-control that ensures high-level error correction and data protection. There is also an error-recovery technology combination that helps to protect user data and prevent data loss.
