Description
Power and Environmental
The JL355A HPE Aruba 2540 48G 4 SFP Managed Desktop Switch is designed to operate in a variety of power and environmental conditions.
- Power: The switch can be powered through an AC power source, and it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) on select ports. This allows devices such as wireless access points and IP phones to be powered through the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional power sources.
- Environmental: The switch is designed to operate in a wide range of temperatures, from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius (32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and can be installed in environments with up to 90% non-condensing humidity. The switch is also designed to operate in environments with altitudes up to 3000 meters (9842 feet) above sea level.
- Energy-Efficiency: The switch also supports Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE), which reduces power consumption when the network is idle. This helps reduce the environmental impact of the switch and can also help lower energy costs.
- Safety, Emission and Immunity: The switch is designed to meet safety, emission and immunity standards such as UL60950-1, EN55022, EN55024, and EN61000-3-2,3.
Ports and Connectivity
The JL355A HPE Aruba 2540 48G 4 SFP Managed Desktop Switch provides a high-density solution for connecting a large number of devices and network segments.
- Ports: The switch is equipped with 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 SFP ports. The Gigabit Ethernet ports support auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDI-X, allowing them to be easily connected to a wide variety of devices, including servers, workstations, and other network switches. The SFP ports support fiber connectivity and can be used to connect the switch to other network devices or to extend the reach of the network.
- Connectivity: The switch supports a wide range of connectivity options, including support for 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (SFP+). This allows the switch to be easily integrated into existing network environments and to support high-bandwidth applications and services.
- Link Aggregation: The switch also supports Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) which allows grouping multiple ports together to form a single logical link. This increases bandwidth and provides redundancy in case of a failure on one of the physical links.
- PoE: The switch also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) on select ports. This allows devices such as wireless access points and IP phones to be powered through the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional power sources.
Quality of Service (QoS)
Quality of Service (QoS) is a feature of the JL355A HPE Aruba 2540 48G 4 SFP Managed Desktop Switch that allows network administrators to prioritize different types of network traffic in order to ensure that critical applications and services receive the bandwidth they need to operate efficiently.
- Traffic Prioritization: QoS allows traffic to be prioritized based on a variety of criteria, such as IP address, port number, and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) values. This ensures that critical network traffic such as voice and video is given priority over less critical traffic such as file transfers and email.
- Bandwidth Control: QoS also allows network administrators to control the amount of bandwidth that can be consumed by different types of traffic. This can be used to prevent a single application or user from consuming all available bandwidth and causing network congestion.
- Congestion Management: QoS also includes congestion management features such as Weighted Random Early Detection (WRED) and tail drop. These features help to prevent network congestion by dropping less important packets when the network is congested.
- The JL355A HPE Aruba 2540 48G 4 SFP Managed Desktop Switch also supports other advanced QoS features such as class-based marking, shaping and policing, which allows for more granular control over traffic management.
