Performance Benchmarking
The Toshiba SDFAR02DAA01 is a mix-use MLC SAS SSD designed for use in enterprise storage systems. The performance of this drive can vary depending on the specific system configuration, workload, and testing methodology. However, we can look at some general performance benchmarks to get an idea of how the drive performs.
According to Toshiba's product specifications, the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD has a maximum sequential read speed of up to 1,900MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of up to 1,100MB/s. These speeds are typical for a SAS-based SSD with a capacity of 800GB.
In terms of random read and write performance, the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD can achieve up to 260,000 IOPS for random reads and up to 30,000 IOPS for random writes. These are relatively high performance numbers for a mix-use MLC SSD.
The SDFAR02DAA01 SSD also includes advanced error correction and wear-leveling algorithms to help improve the reliability and lifespan of the drive.
It is important to note that these performance benchmarks are based on manufacturer-provided specifications and may not reflect real-world performance in all use cases. Additionally, the performance of the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD can be impacted by factors such as system configuration, workload, and firmware updates.
Installation and Configuration
Installing and configuring the Toshiba SDFAR02DAA01 800GB SAS SSD involves several steps. Here are the general steps to follow:
- Ensure compatibility: Before installing the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD, ensure that it is compatible with your system's interface (in this case, SAS 12Gbps) and form factor (2.5-inch).
- Install the drive: Install the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD into an available drive bay in your system. Refer to your system's documentation for specific instructions on how to install a 2.5-inch SAS drive.
- Configure RAID (optional): If you plan to use the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD in a RAID array, configure the RAID controller in your system. Refer to your system's documentation for specific instructions on how to configure a RAID array.
- Initialize the drive: Initialize the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD using your system's disk management tools. This will prepare the drive for use and assign a drive letter to it.
- Format the drive: Format the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD using your system's disk management tools. This will create a file system on the drive and prepare it for use.
- Update firmware (optional): Check Toshiba's website for any available firmware updates for the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD. If updates are available, follow the instructions provided to update the drive's firmware.
- Test the drive: Test the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD to ensure that it is functioning properly and meeting your performance expectations.
It is important to follow proper installation and configuration procedures to ensure the reliable and optimal performance of the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD in your system. Refer to your system's documentation and the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD's manual for detailed instructions on installation and configuration.
Interface and Compatibility
The Toshiba SDFAR02DAA01 800GB SAS SSD is designed to be compatible with SAS 12Gbps interfaces and has a 2.5-inch form factor. It uses a 512n sector format, which means that each sector on the drive contains 512 bytes of data.
SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) is a high-performance interface that is commonly used in enterprise storage systems. It provides faster data transfer rates and greater reliability than SATA (Serial ATA) interfaces, making it well-suited for use in high-demand applications.
The SDFAR02DAA01 SSD is compatible with SAS 12Gbps interfaces, which offer maximum data transfer rates of up to 12Gbps (or 1.5GB/s). However, it is also backwards compatible with SAS 6Gbps and SAS 3Gbps interfaces, which offer lower data transfer rates.
In terms of compatibility with operating systems, the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD is designed to work with most major operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. It is important to note, however, that some operating systems may require specific drivers or updates to properly support the SAS interface and the SDFAR02DAA01 SSD.

About Refurbished Products
Users who prefer faster transfer rates and improved system response would find SAS 12GBPS SSDs handy. These drives are suitable for use in enterprise servers and storage arrays. They can process large workloads that require high input/output and low latency. SAS 12GBPS SSDs are one of the most improved storage devices for server virtualization, high-end computing, and data analytics.
These drives support dual-port operation with features that improve reliability. These features include advanced error correction, high signal quality, data integrity technology, and several others. They use higher signal voltages with end-to-end integrity, offering better data speed than SATA drives, and supporting multiple data paths.
Ultra-Fast & Consistent Performance
As SSDs continue to expand in the memory market, the SAS solid-state drives seek to leverage the 12GBPs architecture to offer high-level performance. The design of these drives allows them to carry out several operations effectively. Server virtualization, tiering, high-performance computing, and data analytics have never been faster.
These drives have steady performance specs to allow them to carry out sequential activities. Users will find SAS SSDs with form factors within the range of 1.8" and 3.5", making them a compact option. The SAS 12GBPS comes with a multi-path connection which provides room for fail-over redundancy. With this, users can be sure that there will be no single point of failure.
Furthermore, they feature advanced SAS error-control that ensures high-level error correction and data protection. There is also an error-recovery technology combination that helps to protect user data and prevent data loss.
Built for Data-Intensive & Energy Saving Applications
The virtual storage systems and servers in today's world demand a high level of data use. Bulky data requirements are needed for hybrid cloud environments and database systems. SAS 12GBPS SSDs are built to handle these data-intensive operations. Users will find SAS SSDs that offer capacities up to 30.72TB.
There are other lesser and more affordable capacity offerings available today. These provide data centers, analysts, and computing enthusiasts with more data storage options. Users will not need to buy several drives, thereby saving costs and rack spaces.
