The mean time before failure (MTBF) for SATA drives is about 700,000 hours compared to 1.2 million hours for SAS hard drives.
Another outstanding feature is that of power consumption whereby SATA 3 Gb/s drives are power rated at 10 to 12 watts for normal operating conditions and consume 4 to 6 watts of power when idle.
