RAID Support and Options
The Dell 07H4CN Perc H730p 8 Channel PCI-Express 3.0 SAS 12GBPS SATA 6GBPS Raid Controller supports the following RAID options:
- RAID 0 (Striping) – Data is split across multiple drives for increased performance.
- RAID 1 (Mirroring) – Data is mirrored across multiple drives for increased data protection.
- RAID 5 (Striping with Parity) – Data is striped across multiple drives with a parity drive for increased performance and data protection.
- RAID 6 (Double Parity) – Data is striped across multiple drives with double parity for increased data protection.
- RAID 10 (Mirrored Striping) – Data is mirrored and striped across multiple drives for increased performance and data protection.
- RAID 50 (Striped RAID 5 Sets) – Data is striped across multiple RAID 5 sets for increased performance and data protection.
- RAID 60 (Striped RAID 6 Sets) – Data is striped across multiple RAID 6 sets for increased performance and data protection.
The controller also supports Non-RAID and JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) options for using the connected drives as individual disks without any RAID configuration. Additionally, the controller also supports RAID 1E (RAID 1 Enhanced), RAID 5E (RAID 5 Enhanced) and RAID 5EE (RAID 5 Enhanced with Expanded Capacity) options.
Connectivity and Compatibility for PCI-Express Controller
The Dell 07H4CN Perc H730p 8 Channel PCI-Express 3.0 SAS 12GBPS SATA 6GBPS Raid Controller is compatible with a wide range of Dell servers and workstations that have a PCI-Express 3.0 slot available. It can connect to up to 8 SAS or SATA hard drives, and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60.
In terms of connectivity, the controller has two SFF-8643 connectors for connecting to SAS/SATA hard drives, and one mini-SAS HD connector for connecting to an external SAS expander. It also has a mini-USB connector for connecting to a USB key for firmware updates.
