Description
Processor and Performance
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server is powered by two Intel Xeon E5-2620 2GHz processors, each with six cores and 12 threads, providing a total of 12 cores and 24 threads. The server’s processors are based on Intel’s Sandy Bridge architecture and support Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology, allowing the server to run multiple threads simultaneously and improve performance.
In addition to Hyper-Threading, the server’s processors are also equipped with Intel’s Turbo Boost technology, which automatically increases the clock speed of the processor when it detects that additional processing power is needed. This feature enhances server performance by providing additional processing power when it is needed.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server also features Intel’s Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), which is a set of instructions that can accelerate floating-point operations, such as scientific simulations and 3D modeling. AVX can provide a significant performance boost for applications that require high-speed mathematical calculations.
The server also supports Intel’s Virtualization Technology (VT-x), which allows multiple operating systems to run on the same server simultaneously. This feature can significantly reduce hardware costs by consolidating multiple servers into a single physical server.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server supports various performance-enhancing technologies, including Intel’s Data Direct I/O (DDIO) and Intel’s Integrated I/O (IIO) technologies. DDIO allows the server’s network interface cards (NICs) to directly access the processor’s cache, reducing latency and improving network performance. IIO allows the server to share the PCIe bus between various components, reducing the number of PCIe lanes required and improving I/O performance.
Memory and Memory Expansion
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server supports up to 384GB of memory using 24 DDR3 DIMM slots. The server supports various memory configurations, including Registered (RDIMM), Load Reduced (LRDIMM), and Unbuffered (UDIMM) memory.
The server also supports memory mirroring and memory sparing, which provide additional redundancy and reliability for mission-critical applications.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server supports up to two 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, providing a maximum storage capacity of 2TB. The server supports various storage configurations, including RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 5.
The server’s RAID configuration provides various levels of data protection and performance, depending on the business requirements. RAID 0 provides maximum performance but no data protection, while RAID 1 provides data protection but reduces the storage capacity by half. RAID 5 provides both data protection and additional storage capacity but at the cost of reduced write performance.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server provides various networking capabilities, including multiple network interface cards (NICs) and support for various network protocols, such as Ethernet and Fibre Channel. The server supports up to two FlexFabric 10Gb Ethernet adapters, providing high-speed network connectivity for various workloads.
Management and Security Features
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server provides various management and security features, including Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) technology, which allows remote management of the server. iLO provides access to server health and status information, as well as the ability to perform remote firmware updates and power management.
The server also supports Trusted Platform Module (TPM) technology, providing hardware-based security, including secure boot and data encryption. Additionally, the server provides redundant power supplies and advanced cooling technologies, enhancing server reliability and availability.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server supports various expansion slots and interfaces, including one PCIe 3.0 mezzanine slot and one HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLB adapter. These slots and interfaces provide additional connectivity and expansion options for various workloads.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server supports various operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), and VMware ESXi. The server also supports other operating systems, such as Oracle Linux and Citrix XenServer.
The HPE ProLiant BL460c G8 Blade Server features an efficient power and cooling system that is designed to reduce energy consumption and enhance server reliability. The server features redundant power supplies, providing backup
