Description
Details Information
The Seagate ST1200MM0017 is a 1.2 terabyte (TB) internal hard drive that is made by Seagate. It features a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) interface and has a rotation speed of 10K RPM, which is faster than the 7200 RPM and 5.9K RPM hard drives. This high rotation speed allows for faster data access, making it ideal for use in high-performance server and storage environments.
The drive also has a SAS-6GBPS interface, which is a high-speed data transfer interface that allows for fast data transfer rates of up to 6 gigabits per second (Gbps). Additionally, the drive has a 64MB buffer, which is a small amount of memory that temporarily stores data as it is being read or written to the drive. This helps to improve the drive’s performance by allowing it to handle multiple read and write operations at the same time.
High-performance
The Seagate ST1200MM0017 is a high-performance internal hard drive that is optimized for use in server and storage environments. With its 10K RPM rotation speed, SAS-6GBPS interface and 64MB buffer, it offers fast data access, fast data transfer speeds, high storage capacity and reliable performance.
The 10K RPM rotation speed allows for faster data access compared to 7200 RPM and 5.9K RPM hard drives. This high rotation speed makes it ideal for use in high-performance server and storage environments where data access speed is critical.
The SAS-6GBPS interface provides faster data transfer rates of up to 6 gigabits per second (Gbps) when compared to traditional SATA interface, which allows for fast read and write speeds, enabling you to quickly access large amounts of data.
The 64MB buffer is a small amount of memory that temporarily stores data as it is being read or written to the drive. This helps to improve the drive’s performance by allowing it to handle multiple read and write operations at the same time, hence, enhancing the speed of data transfer.
Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS)
SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) is a high-speed data storage interface that is primarily used in enterprise-level storage systems and servers. SAS hard drives are designed to handle the high data transfer rates, high IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) and high reliability required by these systems.
SAS hard drives connect to the host computer via a SAS controller and SAS cables, which provide faster data transfer rates compared to traditional SATA interface. SAS hard drives also use a different connector than SATA hard drives, so they are not interchangeable.
SAS hard drives are also designed to handle more data I/O requests than SATA hard drives, and they can handle more drive bays in a single system. They also provide more advanced features like dual-port connectivity, which allows for increased data availability and redundancy.
