Description
Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Support
The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 Cisco Router Power Adapter does not support Power Over Ethernet (PoE). PoE is a technology that allows power to be delivered over Ethernet cables to devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, and security cameras. The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 is designed to provide power to Cisco routers and switches that do not have a built-in power supply. It does not have the capability to deliver power over Ethernet cables.
Cisco routers and switches that do support PoE have a built-in power supply and can deliver power to other devices over Ethernet cables through the use of PoE injectors or midspan devices. The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 is not a PoE device and is not capable of providing power to other devices over Ethernet cables.
Redundant Power Supply (RPS) Capabilities
The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 Cisco Router Power Adapter is designed to provide redundant power to a Cisco 2921 router. It has the following redundant power supply (RPS) capabilities:
- Hot-swappable: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 can be inserted or removed from the router without shutting down the power to the device. This allows for easy replacement of the power adapter in case of failure.
- Automatic Switchover: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 can automatically switch to the redundant power supply if the primary power supply fails, ensuring continuous operation of the router.
- Power-sharing: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 can share the load between the primary and redundant power supplies, reducing the overall power consumption of the router.
- Power-failure Detection: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 can detect a power failure and automatically switch to the redundant power supply, ensuring that the router continues to operate.
- LED Indicator: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 has LED indicators that display the status of the power supply, allowing for easy monitoring of the device.
- Power redundancy: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 can provide redundant power to the router, ensuring that the device remains operational in case of a power failure.
- Cable Management: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 has a cable management feature that allows for the organization and securing of cables connected to the power supply.
- Interoperability: The RPS-ADPTR-2921-51 is designed to work seamlessly with the Cisco 2921 router, ensuring that the device is fully compatible with the router.
