- Quality of Service (QoS): This feature allows you to prioritize network traffic, ensuring that time-sensitive applications such as VoIP or video conferencing receive the necessary bandwidth.
- SNMP and RMON support: this feature allows you to monitor and manage the switch remotely, this make it easy to monitor the switch and to troubleshoot issues.
It is also important to note that the switch is easy to expand as your business grows, it supports up to 48 ports, allowing you to add more devices as needed.
Power Options and Redundancy
The SG350X-48P-K9-NA Cisco Small Business 48 Ports Managed Switch is designed to provide a high level of power options and redundancy for your network. Here are a few key features that enable this:
- Power over Ethernet (PoE): The switch supports PoE, which allows you to power devices such as phones, cameras, and wireless access points directly from the switch. This eliminates the need for additional power supplies, simplifying the overall setup and reducing costs.
- Redundant Power Supply: The switch can be configured with an optional redundant power supply, providing an additional power source in case of a primary power supply failure. This ensures that your network stays up and running even in the event of a power outage.
- Power Saving: The switch supports several power-saving features such as Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and IEEE 802.3az, which can help reduce power consumption and lower operating costs.
- Power Discovery Protocol (PDP): This feature allows the switch to automatically detect and configure the power requirements of connected devices, ensuring that they receive the necessary power while minimizing power consumption.
- Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP): This feature allows you to bundle multiple physical ports together to increase bandwidth and provide redundancy, which can be useful for connecting to high-speed servers or other network devices.
- High-Availability: The switch supports several features such as Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), which helps to prevent network loops and ensure fast recovery from a link failure.
- Dual-image firmware: The switch has dual-image firmware feature, this allows for a secondary firmware image to be loaded, in case the primary image fails, providing redundancy and high availability.
- Dual-boot firmware: The switch has dual-boot firmware feature, this allows for a secondary firmware image to be loaded, in case the primary image is corrupted or fails. The switch can reboot with a secondary firmware image, providing redundancy and high availability.

About Refurbished Products
Different Types of Switches
Networking switches vary widely depending on the number of devices they can support, network bandwidth/speed, and form factor. Switches for small offices will have anything between 4 and 8 ports and can fit on a desk. For larger office network implementation, switches may have 24 ports, 48 ports, 96 ports, and 128 ports and are rack-mountable between 1U and 4U. Switches come in different types depending on the network speed and tasks they support. These include 40/100 Gbps, 10 Gigabit (up to 10000 Mbps), Gigabit Ethernet (up to 1000 Mbps), Power over Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps).
Unmanaged Switches
The unmanaged switches offer fixed configurations on a plug-and-play basis. It is the most basic switch and there are a few choices in the market. These switches are affordable, but the basic features make them inappropriate for enterprise applications.
Managed Switches
The number of features and level of functionality improves with managed switches, making them ideal for enterprise and business applications. These switches are built with the command-line interface for ease of configuration. Equally, they support SNMP agents that come in handy when troubleshooting network issues.
The security on managed switches is better and will protect different types of traffic. Other features include support for virtual LANs, IP routing, and quality of service settings. Managed switches are more expensive compared to all other types of switches.
Smart Switches
Smart switches refer to switches that possess more features than those unmanaged switches but do not have the full features of managed switches. Smart switches are more cost-effective than managed switches.
Some of the limitations of the smart switches are a lack of telnet access support, Web GUIs, and a lack of many features for VLANs. They are affordable compared to a fully managed switch and are suitable for a smaller computer network.
Modular Switches
Modular switches allow the addition of expansion modules as the network expands. The expansion modules allow for more networked devices but are application-specific. They may include wireless access points, firewalls, or network analysis tools. The flexibility of a modular networking switch comes at a higher cost.
