Advanced Network Management
The WS-C3750G-16TD-E Cisco Catalyst 3750G 16 Ports Ethernet Switch is a managed switch, meaning it has a built-in management interface for configuring advanced network management features. The switch is equipped with Cisco IOS software that provides a wide range of features for managing and securing the network.
Advanced management features include:
- Remote management: The switch can be managed remotely through the use of SNMP, Telnet, SSH, or the web-based management interface.
- Monitoring and reporting: The switch supports various monitoring and reporting tools such as Cisco's Network Assistant, Cisco Prime Network Control System, and CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS) to monitor switch performance, inventory, and troubleshoot issues.
- Configuration management: The switch supports configuration management features such as Cisco Auto-Upgrade Manager (AUM), Cisco Network Configuration Manager (NCM) and Cisco Prime Infrastructure to manage and backup switch configurations.
- Auto-failover: The switch supports redundancy features such as Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and Virtual Switching System (VSS) to ensure high availability of the network.
- Security: The switch supports advanced security features such as access control lists (ACLs), IEEE 802.1x port-based authentication, and DHCP snooping to protect the network.
Efficient and Scalable Networking
The WS-C3750G-16TD-E Cisco Catalyst 3750G 16 Ports Ethernet Switch is designed for efficient and scalable networking. Some of the features that contribute to this include:
- Stackable design: The switch supports Cisco StackWise technology, which allows multiple switches to be connected together and managed as a single unit. This allows for easy expansion of the network and reduces the need for additional management interfaces.
- High-speed switching: The switch supports wire-speed switching on all ports, which means that it can forward packets at the maximum speed supported by the network.
- Power over Ethernet (PoE): The switch supports PoE on all ports, which allows you to power devices such as IP phones and wireless access points directly from the switch, eliminating the need for additional power sources.
- Quality of Service (QoS): The switch supports advanced QoS features such as traffic shaping, rate limiting, and DiffServ, which allows you to prioritize traffic and ensure that critical applications receive the bandwidth they need.
- VLANs: The switch supports Virtual LANs (VLANs), which allows you to segment the network and limit broadcast traffic, improving network performance and security.
Additionally, the switch supports a wide variety of different routing protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and IS-IS, making it useful for large, complex networks. This allows for scalable and efficient routing, providing a more efficient use of network resources, and allowing for faster and more flexible network deployment.
Remote Management Protocol
The WS-C3750G-16TD-E Cisco Catalyst 3750G 16 Ports Ethernet Switch is a highly advanced and feature-rich network switch designed for enterprise-level networks. It is equipped with 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports and supports a wide range of remote management protocols, including Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Telnet, and Secure Shell (SSH).
SNMP is a widely used protocol for monitoring and managing network devices remotely. It allows network administrators to monitor and control various aspects of the switch, such as its performance, configuration, and status.
Telnet is a remote terminal protocol that allows administrators to access the switch's command-line interface (CLI) remotely. This allows them to perform advanced configurations, troubleshoot issues, and monitor the switch's performance.
SSH is a secure protocol that provides an encrypted connection between the switch and a remote management device. This ensures that all data transmitted between the two devices is protected from unauthorized access and tampering.
In addition to these remote management protocols, this product also supports other features such as Quality of Service (QoS), Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), and EnergyWise technology. These features further enhance the switch's performance and make it suitable for use in demanding network environments.

About Refurbished Products
Different Types of Switches
Networking switches vary widely depending on the number of devices they can support, network bandwidth/speed, and form factor. Switches for small offices will have anything between 4 and 8 ports and can fit on a desk. For larger office network implementation, switches may have 24 ports, 48 ports, 96 ports, and 128 ports and are rack-mountable between 1U and 4U. Switches come in different types depending on the network speed and tasks they support. These include 40/100 Gbps, 10 Gigabit (up to 10000 Mbps), Gigabit Ethernet (up to 1000 Mbps), Power over Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps).
Unmanaged Switches
The unmanaged switches offer fixed configurations on a plug-and-play basis. It is the most basic switch and there are a few choices in the market. These switches are affordable, but the basic features make them inappropriate for enterprise applications.
Managed Switches
The number of features and level of functionality improves with managed switches, making them ideal for enterprise and business applications. These switches are built with the command-line interface for ease of configuration. Equally, they support SNMP agents that come in handy when troubleshooting network issues.
The security on managed switches is better and will protect different types of traffic. Other features include support for virtual LANs, IP routing, and quality of service settings. Managed switches are more expensive compared to all other types of switches.
Smart Switches
Smart switches refer to switches that possess more features than those unmanaged switches but do not have the full features of managed switches. Smart switches are more cost-effective than managed switches.
Some of the limitations of the smart switches are a lack of telnet access support, Web GUIs, and a lack of many features for VLANs. They are affordable compared to a fully managed switch and are suitable for a smaller computer network.
Modular Switches
Modular switches allow the addition of expansion modules as the network expands. The expansion modules allow for more networked devices but are application-specific. They may include wireless access points, firewalls, or network analysis tools. The flexibility of a modular networking switch comes at a higher cost.
